Road Trip to Krabi

Last week the family with some friends drove almost 2000km to Krabi, Thailand and back. On the 27th Jan 2013, we set of on a thrilling road trip to one of the top tourism destinations in Thailand. Located not very far from Phuket, Krabi is an ideal place for a vacation with family with its exotic limestone mountains and clear beaches.

DAY 1

We left the house at around 7.30 am that morning to get things started early. Everyone could feel the excitement of the long journey ahead. It was about around noon when the heat started to pick up. By then we were passing through Perak and Kedah. I was fascinated to see the beautiful paddy fields of Kedah and the limestone caves of Perak. As we head further north, I noticed the absence of city life. There were alot of tiny little towns along the way.

At around 3.00pm we stopped at a small border town of Changlun to obtain compulsory documents before entering Thailand.

By 3.45pm we were already in Thailand. The atmosphere feels a whole lot different than in Malaysia. We continued on our path but stopped in the southern city of Hat Yai for the night before going any further. Hat Yai reminds me a lot of Bangkok.

DAY 2

The next day we continued a 4 hour journey to Krabi, via Highway 4 passing thru Phattalung and Trang town.

our convoy

We made a short stop at small town called Wang Wiset to repair a puncture on a friend's car.

Dual carriageway, and no toll !!!
When we arrived in Krabi everyone was exhausted but yet still very relieved with the sight that we saw. But we weren't staying in town, but a place called Ao Nang Beach. There we got a taste of the food we've been missing at a small food stall near the beach.

We later checked in to the Mecure Krabi Deevana Hotel. It was very comfortable and not far from the beach. We spent the rest of the afternoon at the pool and at the beach.

can't wait to jump in
Our room on the ground floor, 3rd from left
sunset !!!
Basket tote provided by the hotel... nice
what a view.....
worth the long road trip
As we were strolling along the beach at a very low tide, we saw someting that rarely seen outside of an aquarium, a live starfish !!.

We were amazed at what had washed up to shore
After the beach, we took a slow walk back to the hotel. Time had passed so quickly that we didn’t realize that it had been almost an hour.

Leisurely walking back to the Hotel

In front of Holiday Inn... nice hotel, shoud stay here for our next trip
to be continued.....
